Russell W. Sheppard, JD

Russ received his law degree from the University of Alberta and was called to the BC Bar in 2014.  Prior to his law career, Russ enjoyed a successful teaching and administration career in Nunavut, Alberta and Ontario where he was the Dean of Students at the prestigious Hill Academy.  He received numerous accolades for his work in education including the Excellence in Teaching Award, Contributor of the Year, BDC Youth Entrepreneur of the Year and most recently the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal.  Russ is active in the community and enjoys coaching and playing various sports.

Nicole A. Ogden, JD

Nicole received her law degree from the University of Calgary  and was called to the BC Bar in 2020. Nicole grew up in Cranbrook and articled under Russ. When he decided to open Spruce Notary & Legal, it was a natural choice for her to join him. Nicole's practice is focused primarily on solicitor's work, including Wills and Estates, Commercial and Real Estate law. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and enormous lap dog, Quinn.

Carla Conkin, LL.B.

Carla received her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Alberta in 1993, and was originally called to the Alberta Bar in 1994. She is an active member of the British Columbia Bar and maintains non-active membership status with the Alberta Bar and Northwest Territories Bar. Carla focuses on Solicitor work, including land and real estate transactions, commercial leasing, commercial transactions and wills and estates. 

Carla's legal career has spanned over 27 years, with a focus on land and resource development, environmental and Indigenous law. Prior to joining Spruce Notary and Legal, she spent more than a decade with the Department of Justice Canada, representing the Federal Government in major northern mining and oil and gas projects, such as Canada's diamond mines and the Mackenzie Gas Pipeline. She has also worked as a senior government official in land administration, environmental liabilities, and financial assurances. In March 2021, she was appointed by the Federal Minister, Department of Environment and Climate Change as a part-time Commissioner and Review Panel Member for the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, with cross appointments to the Canada Energy Regulator and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.

Carla lives in Fort Steele, where she enjoys the mountains and life with her dog and horses.

Cinthia Anguiano Solis, L.L.M

Cinthia is originally from Mexico and received her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Colima, Mexico in 2015. After moving to the Creston Valley in 2016, Cinthia was certified by the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in January 2021 and was called to the BC Bar in February 2022.

 

Cinthia’s practice is focused primarily on Wills and Estates and some solicitor work including real estate conveyancing.  

 

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time at the lake in the company of her husband and dog. Any time off, Cinthia can be found on an airplane heading back to Mexico to visit friends and family.
